Henley Stone Specialists is proud to see the Phoenix Mill project in Wakefield recognised with a refurbishment award from Wakefield Civic Society.
The award highlights the successful restoration of the Grade II-listed early 19th-century mill at Tileyard North, a complex project delivered by our sister division, Henley Restoration & Remedials.
Supporting a complex heritage project
Phoenix Mill, the oldest building within the Tileyard North scheme, required extensive repair and careful reconstruction following years of dereliction. Its location alongside the River Calder added further complexity to the works.
The project involved detailed restoration of the building fabric, including traditional masonry repairs, ensuring the character and integrity of the historic structure were preserved.

Recognition for quality and collaboration
Delivered for City & Provincial, alongside Historic England and Wakefield Council, and designed by Hawkins\Brown, the project demonstrates the value of a collaborative, conservation-led approach.
