Henley Construction Management Group is proud to celebrate local boxer Cory O’Regan following his victory over Joe Howarth to become the new English Lightweight Champion.
Cory secured the title at Co-op Live in Manchester, winning by unanimous decision over ten rounds.
For Henley, the result is particularly special. We have proudly supported Cory for a number of years and have followed his professional career through the highs, setbacks and the countless hours of work that happen away from fight night.
A local lad from Liversedge, Cory started boxing at Cleckheaton Boxing Academy at just 10 years old. He went on to have around 80 amateur fights, represent England and win gold at the Great Britain Elite Three Nations before making the move into the professional ranks.
His journey has not always been straightforward. His career was interrupted by the pandemic, and he has had to wait for the opportunities to demonstrate what he can do at championship level. That makes seeing him with the English title around his waist all the more rewarding.
Supporting local talent
As a Yorkshire-based business working across the UK, we believe there is real value in supporting talented people within the communities around us.
Sponsorship at this level of sport plays a small but important part in helping athletes continue to train, compete and pursue opportunities. We are proud to have played our part in Cory’s journey and, most importantly, to have continued that support over a number of years.
Cory visited the Henley offices following his win, giving the team the opportunity to congratulate him in person and see the new belt.
Everyone at Henley is incredibly proud of what he has achieved. The English title is a major milestone, but knowing Cory’s ambition, we are sure he will already be looking towards the next challenge.
Congratulations, Cory. Thoroughly deserved – and hopefully plenty more to come.
