We are proud to announce that our specialist division, Henley Stone Specialists, has been appointed to deliver the full Glass Reinforced Concrete (GRC) package for a major new development at the University of Sheffield.
This development forms part of the University of Sheffield’s broader expansion of its Faculty of Health, delivering much-needed teaching space for a growing student body and expanded research facilities for the Sheffield Institute for Translational Neuroscience (SITraN). As a leading centre in the fight against motor neurone disease, Parkinson’s, dementia, stroke, and other neurodegenerative conditions, SITraN’s continued growth is vital. While the project’s purpose is clear and important, so is ours: to ensure the seamless, expert delivery of the full GRC package.
Our team is bringing high-level expertise in GRC installation, backed by full planning, material sourcing, and technical coordination. The package includes more than 1,300 square metres of GRC, covering full supply, installation, and all associated supporting structures. This is a complex and high-profile scheme, and our team is proud to lead the façade delivery with a solution tailored to both the architectural vision and the logistical constraints of a tight, city-centre site.
Our delivery is supported by close collaboration with the wider project team. We are working in partnership with Clegg Construction as the main contractor, alongside Bond Bryan Architects, BCM GRC Limited, and Smart Crosby International, to ensure that every stage, from design coordination and supply through to on-site installation, is carried out with precision and efficiency.
With construction due to begin in early 2026, Henley Stone Specialists is proud to bring its deep knowledge and proven track record in GRC delivery to this important project, playing a key role in delivering a facility that will support world-class research and teaching for years to come.
Stay tuned for updates as the project moves forward.
