Overview

The University of Sheffield is investing £16 million into the expansion of the world-renowned Sheffield Institute for Translational Neuroscience (SITraN). The new Faculty of Health building will provide state-of-the-art laboratory space, flexible teaching areas, and collaborative workspaces, physically connecting to the existing SITraN centre and enhancing links with the Royal Hallamshire Hospital.

Our Involvement

Henley Stone Specialists have been appointed to deliver the complete Glass Reinforced Concrete (GRC) package for Phase 1 of the scheme. This includes:

• 1,300 sq. metres of GRC cladding
• Full supply, installation, and supporting structures
• Design coordination and planning input to ensure seamless integration within the scheme

The site presents logistical challenges due to its location and the phased demolition of existing buildings. To overcome these, we are working closely with Clegg Construction, alongside Bond Bryan Architects, BCM GRC Limited, and Smart Crosby International, to ensure smooth design development and efficient on-site delivery.

Works are scheduled to commence early next year, with completion expected in 2026. Our expertise in complex GRC solutions will play a key role in realising the architect’s design vision while supporting the university’s ambition to create a modern, research-driven facility at the forefront of neuroscience.
